Holy week at Pres House begins on Palm Sunday, one week before Easter.
Maundy Thursday, also known as Holy Thursday, is the first of the three days of solemn remembrance of the events leading up to and immediately following the crucifixion of Jesus. The English word “Maundy” comes from the Latin mandatum, which means “commandment.” As recorded in John’s gospel, on his last night before his betrayal and arrest, Jesus washed the feet of his disciples and then gave them a new commandment to love one another as he had loved them (John 13:34).
We also celebrate the Lord’s Supper, remembering the meal Christ shared with his disciples before his death.
Good Friday Service – April 14th at noon
“Good Friday is the day we remember Jesus’ crucifixion. The hours of noon to 3 p.m. are particularly significant as these commemorate the time Jesus hung on the cross. It is an especially important time to pray for the church and the world for whom Christ gave his life.” (presbyterianmission.org)
Easter Sunday is the day we celebrate the resurrection of the Lord our savior, Jesus Christ. On this holiday we will be also be acknowledge the Baptism and Reaffirmation of Baptismal Vows of community members.
On April 10, 2016, Pres House celebrated the sacrament of baptism with Theodore Nelson Fields and the reaffirmation of baptismal vows with Preston David Boggs. It was a joyous occasion with the whole community participating in praying for and blessing Theo and Preston.
